The Burning Sun / Paper Castles w/ Zero Front

  • Brewbakers 48 Emerald St Keene, NH, 03431 United States (map)

The Burning Sun are alchemists of sound. With stamina that harnesses the energy of their namesake, this power quartet rotates instruments throughout their discography and live performances to create a panorama of unpredictable melodies, intricate rhythm changes and atmospheric tones.

Locals to Burlington, VT (unceded Abenaki territory), Katy Hellman, Steven LeBel, Bo Malcolm and Addie Herbert weave together their eclectic musical influences which include folk, psych rock, prog rock, punk and ancestral sounds. The group works in close collaboration writing and arranging all their music. What emerges reflects the deep wells from which they draw, deriving a signature sound from soaring vocals and evocative lyrics.

The Burning Sun lays bare the grandness (and absurdity) of being alive; the explosive highs and chaotic lows. Bursting with personality and conviction, their music urges us to never lose sight of life’s possibilities.

Paper Castles is the ongoing project of Vermont songwriter and guitarist Paddy Reagan with his longtime collaborators Brennan Mangan (drums), Wren Kitz (guitar), and Emily Tompkins (bass). The music is a collection of indie rock songs in the style of The Beatles, Tom Petty, and Pavement. Their next album "I'm sad as hell and I'm not going to fake it any more" is due out sometime before 2030.

Zero Front has been the solo project of New Hampshire musician Thomas Lusted since 2014. Interstellar textures layered with guitars and electronics are balanced with vocals and drum machine grooves that bring everything back down to earth. Drawing from a mix of genres such as punk, electronica, indie rock and ambient has resulted in echo-laden and distorted guitars, driving beats and engaging lyrics all working together to create a fresh sound.

Inspiration from the diverse New Hampshire DIY scene had led to various self-produced releases showing different sides of Lusted’s songwriting. His lyrical themes include the bittersweetness of friends moving away (“Awkward Small Talk”), the beauty of spending time alone (“Sea of Tranquility”) and having friends by your side during difficult times (“You Reassure”). These songs have been staples of his engaging performances at New England venues and DIY spaces.

Zero Front is currently focused on writing and recording new music to continue exploring, developing and expanding his years-long sonic path – he cannot wait to share it with you.

Doors are at 7pm, music starts at 730! This show is all ages!
