Kristina Warren is a sound artist, composer, performer, and instrument builder based on Wampanoag and Narragansett land also known as Providence, Rhode Island [US]. Both in solo projects and in collaborative work including curating, Warren believes that collective listening is a precious and political act. Warren uses self-designed and received audio tools to create performances, installations, and recorded works, whose recent “ASMR drone” style uses quieter volumes and careful orchestrations to help audiences perceive their own listening. Called “precise and unpredictable” (Marc Masters, Bandcamp) and “a combination of the synthetic and the fuzzy with the deeply human” (Brian McCorkle, Jazz Right Now), work by Warren has been presented internationally at venues including Spektrum [DE], Studio Loos [NL], The Bluecoat [UK], Espace des arts sans frontières [FR], Espacios Sonoros [AR], Radiophrenia [UK], Musik Akademie Basel [CH], Experimental Sound Studio (Chicago, US), Rhizome (DC, US), and the MIT Spatial Sound Lab (Cambridge, US). Warren's Spring 2023 EU tour includes events in Wien, Graz, Den Haag, Stockholm, and more. Recently a Visiting Assistant Professor of Electronic Music & Multimedia (Brown University, 2017-21), Warren holds a PhD in Composition and Computer Technologies (University of Virginia, 2017) and a BA in Music Composition (Duke University, 2011).
Katie Semro is an audio creator making audio art, documentaries, and music.
Semro’s audio art installation Trust me, I’m a Doctor was exhibited at Sound Scene Fest 2022 at the Smithsonian Hirshhorn Museum in Washington, D.C. Her motion-triggered audioscapes accompanied the exhibit What We Make of This World at the Fountain Street Gallery in Boston in April 2023.
She has produced, edited, sound designed, and scored several audio documentaries. The longest of these was her 75 part Mother Mine series, which was a collection of sound-rich audio snapshots about our mothers and how they’ve shaped us, told by people from 30 countries. Prior to that, she created 33 episodes of the documentary podcast Transmission Times that recorded ordinary life during the first year of the pandemic through the voices of people from around the world. Her work has appeared on 39 radio stations across the country.
She loves creating and performing with Ableton Live and runs the online group Women with Live to create positive experiences for women with music technology. She also teaches people how to use Ableton Live, and lives in Sharon, NH with her husband and two children.
Ebb & Flow is an audio art performance piece by audio creator Katie Semro in which she intertwines the flow of energy in our daily lives and in nature. Using fragments of story, sound, music, movement, and audience participation, Semro manipulates the perpetual flow of the natural world alongside the currents of human emotion.
Coraline James Seksinsky- performing under the name Vein Melter - is an artist and writer who’s lived the vast majority of her life in Cheshire county. Accumulating a series of personal creative milestones in the secrecy of basements, bedrooms, and barn attics, public performance was few and far between. Names changed, records were released and forgotten. The name Vein Melter is in tribute to the black Jazz musicians whose creative output laid the foundation for her own.
