The Great Groove Theory / Reckoners

  • Brewbakers 48 Emerald St Keene, NH, 03431 United States (map)

Formed in the famous Rynborn Restaurant and Blues Club, The Great Groove Theory has been entertaining audiences around the Monadnock region for the better part of twenty years. With one foot firmly in the blues they effectively blend funk, blues and jam into a high energy danceable sound that never disappoints.

Rooted in soul and steeped in rock ‘n’ roll, Reckoners is a Boston-based band built from some of the region’s most respected and road-tested musicians.

Fronted by singer and guitarist Tim Gearan, the group features guitarist and band leader Johnny Trama (Bettye LaVette, The Silks, Dub Apocalypse), drummer Tom Arey (Peter Wolf, The J. Geils Band, G. Love, Vapors of Morphine) bassist Marc Hickox (Bettye LaVette, Charlie Musselwhite), and keyboardist Darby Wolf (Bettye LaVette, Rubblebucket). Together, they channel the grit and groove of classic soul and rock into something timeless and deeply personal.

Their self-produced debut album — now streaming on all major platforms — has drawn more than 43,000 monthly listeners and features the standout single “Looking for a Reason” with guest vocals by Susan Tedeschi.

Reckoners have been building momentum across New England with sold-out headline shows and support slots alongside artists including Tedeschi Trucks Band, The Wallflowers, and Bonnie Raitt. Their music and live performances were recently spotlighted in Relix Magazine.
