Ty Ueda Livestream

  • Brewbakers 48 Emerald St Keene, NH, 03431 United States (map)

Ty Ueda lives in New Hampshire, stays up late, and plays music for the late night hours. Starting in 2015, while playing guitar with Lina Tullgren, Ueda began finding small ways to sculpt and extend the sound of the traditional electric guitar live and in the moment to serve as a low hanging and delicate sonic landscape to back guitar and voice.  Over time, this sculpting and practicing gave way to nightly recording sessions at the remotely located Mount Misery in Barrington, New Hampshire.

Following a dramatically limb altering hit-and-run car accident in 2017, Ueda picked up the pedal steel guitar at the suggestion of his orthopedic surgeon and focused intently on amending a practice built around standard 6-string guitar to be played on an MSA S-10 Classic pedal steel.  Following under the wings of a fairly small world of avant garde pedal steel players, Ueda seeks to continue to lull audiences into a sleepy stupor and explore the endless depths of the instrument.

Amidst pandemic, selections from the long forgotten nightly recordings of 2016 were compiled and released as the evening length opus titled Sleep Sessions.  Stretching over a full 10 hours, the album is loosely designed to be listened to an hour before bed, throughout a full 8 hours of sleep, and an hour after waking from sleep.  During the pandemic, Ueda has performed versions of these pieces live from home, oftentimes extending all the way to the 8 hour limit of most live-streaming services.
